Braided Cable Hat and Sock Class

I finished the Braided Cable hat on Saturday evening.  At the very end I almost had a complete disaster on my hands (yarn unraveling – big mess).  But I was able to save the day.  The hat, if I do say so, is so cute.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t look right on its intended owner – Joe.  It’s a bit too poofy.  I had a feeling this was going to happen.  So now, the hat is mine (happily)!!  It’s a bit big on me, but if I roll up the ribbing you can still see the cool cabling and it looks good.  Which says a lot coming from me.  I ‘m very picky about my hats.   Here’s the hat:

I personally love it.  I could look at it all day!!  And the Cascade Soft Spun is really soft.   Joe will get a plain old ski cap for his upcoming ski trip.  That’s what he likes!! I have enough of the same yarn left so I can easily make his hat from the same wool.

My Magic Loop Socks from the Toe Up class on Saturday was great.  Had so much fun the time flew by.  I chose a green variegated Berrocco sock yarn for my project.   Socks are a lot of work.  Very fine yarn and size 1 needles!!  The caston was a bit tricky.  I do need to practice.  So far, I love my sock.  Need to knit about 5 more inches before the next class on the 21st.  I think I can do it!  Will post a picture later.  There are 6 of us in the class, so that makes it so much fun too.  Lots of talking and laughing.  Good group of knitters!
