Catching Up

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve posted anything.  It’s not that I haven’t been knitting!!

The biggest event of the last month was taking my daughter to college for the first time.  She is now ensconced in life at the University of Tennessee and loving it!  We miss her so much, but are also very excited for her.  She’s got a great four years ahead of her!  And of course, we are now all Volunteer fans!!

Speaking of which, I decided to knit mittens for her and her 3 suite mates — all lovely girls I might add!  I ordered up a bunch of yarn from Knit Picks:

UTK Colors

I’m sure they will not be ready by the time we go for Family Weekend, but perhaps by Thanksgiving!  I’m working out a design in my head.  A checkerboard pattern is definitely in store!  Will surely post photos!

I’ve been working a bit on the Smitten mittens.  Just love those, and they knit up so quickly.  But, I have put all projects aside in order to finish the November blanket for my daughter.  It’s going to be BIG!!   But that’s what she wants.  I also decided against stripes and am making it all one color as the pattern calls for.  It is so pretty and warm.  The only photo I have of it shows it folded up.  I’m just over 1/3 of the way done.  Am on a knitting quota system now!  I need to knit at least 10 rows a night to have it done before Sept. 21st.  So far so good – this weekend I may just be able to crank out some extra rows!

I’ll post more photos soon.

I picked up this bumper sticker at Cafe Press.  Just couldn’t resist . . .

I’m sure there are a lot of non-knitters out there thinking  “What the –??”  But the cool kids know what it means!!

Am currently reading “Ghost on Black Mountain” by Ann Hite.  It’s an easy, quick read and pretty good story.  Just what I need right now!!
